A Walk Through Fever - 1878

Join us for an escorted walking tour through historic Victorian Village as Memphis historians, Bill Webb and Lari Boswell, recant tales of the suffering of Memphians during the catastrophic Yellow Fever outbreak of 1878.
Beginning at Woodruff-Fontaine for a brief presentation, guests will then stroll over to the historical St. Mary's Episcopal Cathedral to hear of the great sacrifices made by the priests and nuns, such as Sister Constance and the Memphis Martyrs, who risked and lost their own lives while rendering aid to the suffering and dying victims of the fever.
After a short walk around Victorian Village to learn of the impact of the fever felt in the most affluent area of 19th century Memphis, guests will circle back to the Woodruff-Fontaine mansion for fever-cooling treats, including Mempops. Also included is a self-guided tour to view the museum's…
