The Magic Basement by Jeffrey Day November 15 & 16, 7pm-8:30pm January 17, 7pm-8:30pm $40 per admission
MAGIC has existed in many forms. From large stage illusions to closeup tricks on a table. Closeup Magic sometimes causes confusion in the eyes of some people who are unfamiliar with magic and magicians. The term “close up” refers to the fact that the spectator is ‘close up’ to where the action is taking place. You are literally a couple of feet from the performer. You get to see everything, or at least what the magician wants you to see. What you see is magic happening right in front of you … or even in your own hands!
The closeup magic tricks that Jeffrey Day will be performing will be from between the 1860’s to the 1950’s and created by some famous magicians you’ve probably never heard of. He might even do something with a brave spectator’s iPhone. We’ll also explore the playfulness of the mansion’s most famous ghost, Mollie Woodruff herself!
Come to this limited seating event at the Woodruff-Fontaine House, and venture down into the basement to take your seat and watch me create the magic … right in front of you!

The Mesmerist by Jeffrey Day December 14, 7pm-8:30pm January 24 & 25, 7pm-8:30pm February 15, 7pm-8:30pm $50 per admission (16 &up event)
This is my “one-man-show” that is based on the magicians of the 19th century. I will be performing this in the beautiful Victorian ballroom at the Woodruff-Fontaine House Museum (built 1871). I will be sharing magic from some of the magicians you've probably never heard of, such as Harry Kellar, Howard Thurston, Ching Ling Foo, Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser, and Ehrich Weiss (Harry Houdini) are performers who were extremely popular in the 1800s. I have been developing this show for many years, and it is suited for an intimate theater audience, as was the case back in the Victorian era. In this show you will be seeing some exciting magic that has seldom been seen, even by current day magicians.
The word “mesmerist” refers to Franz Anton Mesmer (1734-1815), an Austrian physician who developed a theory of “animal magnetism” and a “mysterious body fluid which allows one person to hypnotize another”. Mesmerism has taken on a different meaning in these modern times. Some of the magic that I will be performing might make one feel as though you have had a spell cast upon you. Besides the beautiful classic magic from this period, I will also travel deep into the minds of the audience using techniques from the 1800’s. If you have been to my show in previous months, you will see some "new" illusions added to the show that will make you question what your eyes are seeing. Come witness what theater-goers saw over 100 hundred years ago. You will be transported back to “The Golden Age of Magic”.
Prepare yourself to be MESMERIZED !
