Art Day at the Woodruff-Fontaine Mansion

Art Day at the Woodruff-Fontaine House with the Mid-South Cartoonists Association Saturday, June 6, 10am-4pm (In case of rain, Art Day will be moved to Sunday, June 7, 12pm-4pm) THIS EVENT IS NOT AN ART CLASS. THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO ALL AMATEUR AND PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS. AGES 13-16 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. Come join the Mid-South Cartoonists Association at the beautiful Woodruff-Fontaine House Museum at 680 Adams Avenue where you will be able to visit one of the last remaining, fully restored and furnished Victorian Mansions along what was once Millionaire's Row! Built in 1871, this mansion has been the beginnings of both Memphis College of Art and Theater Memphis. The Mid-South Cartoonists Association invites you to come do art of the house, outside and in, for the low, low price of FREE*! Please share with your favorite art groups and organizations. We'd love to see you there! (*The museum is offering entry to artists on these days only when presenting this notice at the front desk. The Woodruff-Fontaine House would like the opportunity to use art for fundraising to maintain the museum and property. Any artists offering their art to be reprinted for museum gift shop items will receive copies of the merchandise if their art is chosen to become WFH museum merchandise. Artists may keep original art, unless they would like to donate it to the museum.) Any questions: Reply to or RULES: This is an operating museum. Please be respectful of property inside/out, keep noise to a minimum and be out of the way of tours and guests. Indoor spaces are tight and items inside are VERY valuable -- you break it, you buy it (there are cameras, we will know!) Outdoor spaces allow you to spread out. OUTSIDE: You can use paints, inks, and dusty items like pastels, including any photography. INSIDE: Nothing that can permanently stain (ie, paints, ink washes). Pencils, pens (no ink jars!), copics, photography allowed (NO FLASH). Digital work will be acceptable inside or out.
